IDENTIFY PAP'S WEAKEST LINK IN JURONG GRC - VOTE NOW!

The Jurong GRC was uncontested in 2006. In July 2008 one of the PAP MPs here Dr Ong Chit Chung passed away but the ruling party steadfastly refused to call for a by-election. Since then the PAP Jurong GRC team has lost two more members, namely Lim Boon Heng
, a long-time Minister without Portfolio who decided to quit politics, and Grace Fu, who is contesting in the Yuhua SMC.

The two survivors, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam (who takes over Lim as the anchor minister) and Halimah Yacob are joined in this election by PAP new faces Desmond Lee, Ang Wei Neng and David Ong.

Is this new PAP Jurong GRC line-up a tight fighting unit or will they fall apart as soon as the challenges begin? Amongst them, one is The Weakest Link.

Who is The Weakest Link? Singaporeans, you decide.

Candidate 1: Desmond Lee Ti-Seng
One of the emerging PAP prince-lings, Lee, 35, is the son of former Minister Lee Yock Suan. He served as a Legal Service Officer with different government ministries before landing himself a job as a legal counsel of government-linked Temasek Holdings.

Candidate 2: Halimah Yacob

A lawyer by training, Halimah was called to the Singapore Bar in 1981. However she is now deeply involved with NTUC and has been its Assistant Secretary General since 1990. Often portrayed in the mainstream media as a champion for workers’ rights, Halimah seldom brings attention to the fact that she is a Board Director of SMRT Corp its subsidiaries, and other government-related entities.

Candidate 3: Ang Wei Neng

Ang, 44, is identified in the mainstream media as SBS Transit (West District) Vice-President, although an internet reference reveals otherwise that his job title is “Vice President, Security SBS Transit”.  This is consistent with the fact that Ang represented SBS in 2004/2005 in the National Crime Prevention Council’s Security in Public Transport Committee. Ang was Director, Operations Development of SBS in 2007 – a time when the high problematic EZ-Link card was being tested before forcibly introduced upon commuters.

Candidate 4: David Ong Kim Huat
Ong is the managing director of RedDot Publishing and he has been branded as the “first entrepreneur to be unveiled in the line-up of PAP”. The mainstream media has taken care to omit that Ong receives a fair bit of business from government linked entities. RedDot Publishing proudly proclaim itself as “the leading publisher of tourist related maps and guides since 1997 for the Singapore Tourism Board”. It was also appointed by Singapore Airlines to publish their “Hop-on Guide” from 2003 to 2007 and from Oct 2010 onwards
