SALUTE TO WP, CHIAM & BRAVEST OF SINGAPOREANS
Unfortunately it proven once more that courage is a virtue possessed only be a minority. 40% of Singaporeans see the crisis facing our country and stepped out of their comfort zones to vote for change. But alas, the rests prefer lives as daft lesser mortals serving the deaf and arrogant.

Congratulations to the Workers' Party for a hard and well-fought campaign. On the foundation of credibility and rationality, the party's leadership recruited a collection of fine young talents and molded them into a strong fighting team. They not only clinched a stunning victory in Aljunied GRC (taking 3 ministers in the process), but won at least 40% votes in all the wards they contested. Seeing the response of Singaporeans to the WP's rallies and victory in elections, this is a group that reminds us of the first generation PAP that had likewise captured the hearts of the ordinary people.

The loss of Mr Chiam See Tong in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC marks the end of an era in Singapore's democracy and history. His spirit proved willing despite his frail body - a true role model for Singaporeans, and indeed anyone. Nonetheless there are limitations to the personality-based approach in Singapore politics, and his valiant efforts ended up short even against Wong Kan Seng. The challenge to all political parties hereafter is to emulate the systematic and progressive approach of the WP, to ensure the grooming of purposeful teams and not just rely on the charisma and reputation of individuals.

To all Singaporeans who dared to say "NO" to oppression and threats, to the Workers' Party who is willing to take the slow and humble path to power, and to Mr Chiam who has inspired us all, we salute you!
